My Life’s Purpose

from Andy Efting @ Unsearchable Riches

This evening, while thumbing through an old Bible that my parents gave me for Christmas in 1984, I came across this quote by C. H. Spurgeon. I had written it on one of the inside blank cover pages, probably shortly after I graduated from college. It comes from the Feb 15 AM reading in Morning and Evening in regard to 2 Peter 3:18, “…to Him be glory both now and forever.”

“Lord, help me to glorify thee; I am poor, help me to glorify thee by contentment; I am sick, help me to give thee honour by patience; I have talents, help me to extol thee by spending them for thee; I have time, Lord, help me to redeem it, that I may serve thee; I have a heart to feel, Lord, let that heart feel no love but thine, and glow with no flame but affection for thee; I have a head to think, Lord, help me to think of thee and for thee; thou hast put me in this world for something, Lord, show me what that is, and help me to work out my life-purpose: I cannot do much, but as the widow put in her two mites, which were all her living, so, Lord, I cast my time and eternity too into thy treasury; I am all thine; take me, and enable me to glorify thee now, in all that I say, in all that I do, and with all that I have.”

I needed to see that again tonight.

Two years

from Corene @ Corene's Chronicles

Two years ago on June 11th Jesse and I were married. Last week we went back to where we spent our honeymoon, Sevierville, TN. (By-the-way, we went there last year too.) Considering that we wanted our first full day to be the 11th, we drove up on the 10th leaving Columbia around 10:30 AM. After checking in we freshened up and headed on out to a church we had gone to before. The message was taken from Rev. 19:1-10.
On Monday we went to Dolly Splash Country. It was fun. We noticed a drastic change from two years ago when we went to D S C and this year. Two years ago we spent about 5 hours. This year we didn’t make it past 3 1/2 hours. We’re getting old. ha ha =)
On Tuesday we drove a scenic route to Cades Cove. We were told we might see bear, deer, rabbits, etc. The emphasis is on the word “might”. =0 All we saw were trees, greenery, log buildings, and people.
On Wednesday we came home by way of the Ripley’s Aquarium in Gatlinburg. Fascinating place! I picked up and held a horseshoe crab … for about 3 seconds and then dropped it back into the water because it’s legs touched my hands and scared me. Jesse was able to pet a manta ray. He says (I didn’t see because I was sitting down) that a big manta ray slithered up the lady in the tank in order to get food.
All in all our little vacation went by wonderfully and too quickly.

Summer

from Fae @ A Glimpse...That Place

The sprinklers are going to town behind the girls’ dorms right now. The sound of them going back and forth bring back memories of when I was a kid and had to get up at 6:30am for school each morning….
