The test of a man’s religious life and character is not what he does in the exceptional moments of life, but what he does in the ordinary times, when there is nothing tremendous or exciting on~ Oswald Chambers

Have you ever?

from Barbara H. @ Stray Thoughts

This was a survey I saw on Facebook, but it had 65 questions, which is WAY too long. So I took out what I considered to be boring ones.
Have you ever….
Been pulled over? Yes, once, for speeding. I was so embarrassed. It was a reflex to slow down at that spot for months afterward.
Dyed your [...]

Ham and Fox

from Rob @ ivman's blague

I’m posting off schedule to pass several odds and ends of information on to you. I’ve known for a while that our church, Hampton Park Baptist Church, is having Ken Ham from Answers in Genesis come speak. What I didn’t know was the exact schedule or the topics. Now that I know, I thought those [...]

Anagrams

from Rob @ ivman's blague

Aren’t words a fun blessing?! Long time readers of my blog know that I love words and word play. One kind of word play that I have not done much with is the anagram — a word or phrase that is made by transposing or rearranging the letters of another word or phrase. The closest [...]

God does so much more than “show up”

from Barbara H. @ Stray Thoughts

I have seen a particular phraseology going around recently that bothers me:
“God really showed up.” “Pray that God shows up in a big way.” “I hope God shows up for this event.”
If you have said or written this, please don’t take offense or think I am fussing at you. I can’t remember for sure where [...]

Changes and deletions

from Katherine @ Sola Christus

I just deleted a link off my sidebar that has been on this blog since May 31, 2005. You can no longer find The Official Lord of the Rings web page on my sidebar. As I pressed the delete button, I felt a moment of bittersweetness, but then I thought about all of the changes that have happened in my life since I started this blog, 342 posts, 691 comments ago. In 2005 I was an instructor at a small liberal arts college that worked their instructors much too much. Since then, I have traveled to Jerusalem, Jericho, Tel Aviv,…
