Gratitude for Joe Tyrpak

from Chris @ My Two Cents

I spent a few minutes in the beginning of my November 22 morning message to express to the TCBC body the blessing that Joe Tyrpak has been to our church and to my life. Much of what the Lord has taught me over the last 5 years (including much of what I’ve posted here) has [...]

One old holiday and one new holiday

from Katherine @ Sola Christus

There are quite a few American students here in St. Andrews, and if one plans ahead, a person, American or not, can actually have more than one Thanksgiving. I had two this week. One at my house, and one at my friends’ house. I like this one. Casey in the reflection; Jesse cutting the bird, and Dash waiting oh so patiently. He is so interested in cooking, it certainly seems like he will be a good cook in the future. Our lovely feast, including cornbread made by Chera’s mom! Before the dessert, Jesse pulled out Charlie Brown’s Thanksgiving special. I…

Chuck Colson: Manhattan Declaration is “a foretaste of heaven.”

from Chris @ My Two Cents

Dave Doran again shows why the Manhattan Declaration is being viewed by both participating ecumenists and non-participating separatists as a significant compromise with false teaching. Noting the centrality of ECT mastermind Chuck Colson to the entire process, Doran makes the following comment:
Can there any doubt, based on his own words, that one of the primary [...]

Training Session

from Rob @ ivman's blague

Many younger Americans don’t have much experience with trains any more since AmTrak passenger service does not go to smaller towns as trains do in other countries. And so I think it’s an interesting phenomenon that Thomas the Tank Engine is capturing the hearts and minds of so many little boys. This week I’m being [...]

Notable quotes

from Barbara H. @ Stray Thoughts

I’m home from church with tummy troubles today, but thought I’d share some words of others that have spoken to me.
The first link between my soul and Christ is not my goodness but my badness, not my merit but my misery, not my riches but my need.
– Spurgeon

Happy Birthday Jack!

from Katherine @ Sola Christus

Today, is CS Lewis’ birthday. He would be 111 today, November 29. This year I made my first (hopefully of many) visits to the Kilns, Jack’s house in Oxford. Below are some of the pictures I took when I was there. For about the last nine years, I don’t think a year has gone by that I haven’t read one of Jack’s birthday, so happy birthday to one of my absolute favorite authors. The outside of the house Jack’s bedroom Jack’s study. The group that owns the house is trying to reproduce the titles that Lewis’ actually owned along with…

One down,…

from Dan Forrest @ ForrestWorks

Whew! Just finished a commission that I wrestled with for a LONG time. I’m hoping the end result proves to be worth the wrestling- we’ll see! It’s a beautiful text, “Lord of the Small”, and the setting was commissioned in memory of a young girl who died of cancer. It’ll be premiered, Lord willing, in [...]
