Favorite books read in 2009

from Barbara H. @ Stray Thoughts

I just posted my list of books read in 2009. I was surprised the total ended up at only 42 (though I’d say the 1400+ pages of Les Mis has to count for at least five books, dontcha think? ) Some people think I read a lot, but I’m nowhere near Carrie’s 132!
I’ve [...]

Good Bye 2009

from Ammy @ anabo.delightinhim.org

As we prepare to usher in the New Year I wanted to take this time and reflect on the many life changing events that happened in 2009. Early this year we spent the last few remaining days of my brother’s life in hospice. On February my family had a sad reunion to fulfill my [...]

Last Random Dozen of 2009

from Barbara H. @ Stray Thoughts

Linda at 2nd Cup of Coffee created and host a weekly Random Dozen set of questions for participants to consider. It’s fun to read different people’s answers.
1. Do you find it gross to share drinks with family? Friends?
Yes, definitely.
2. What have you learned this year? (You didn’t see a question of that weight coming, did [...]

~ ‘Read this passage tonight and made me ponder of how the Lord has His own ways of encouraging people even in the midst of struggles. “My stay.” These two words has been fixed in my mind tonight. It made me realize how the Lord is never out of [...]

On panting with a burning thirst

from Katherine @ Sola Christus

I am back in the States for a short Christmas visit. It has been seven months since I was here, which I realize is not a long time, compared to some other friends who have not been to the States for years. But, in some ways, coming back feels like my heart is being torn in two. I love Scotland with my friends (big and little), its castles, and its haar. I even find myself longing for the sound of seagulls and the white capped waves. And yet even though I love my new church, I miss my old church….

Blog year in review:

from Barbara H. @ Stray Thoughts

Each year about this time I’ve looked back at the first blog post from each month, but this year I want to do my favorite from each month as well:
January:
First post:
New Year’s Meditations.
Favorite post:
Hard to choose between three different favorites this month, but I’ll say When children’s beliefs and practices differ from our own.
February:
First post:
Bible [...]

Y2K Bug in Retrospect

from Rob @ ivman's blague

Do you remember all the hype about the y2k bug in the late 1990’s? For those who only vaguely remember that situation, here’s the problem in a nutshell. Computer programmers had the practice of abbreviating the year to only the last two digits. As the year 2000 approached it was feared that everything would stop [...]

Help Support ChurchWorksMedia.com

from Chris @ My Two Cents

By God’s grace, psalms and hymns from ChurchWorksMedia.com are being used in churches and schools around the United States, and even beyond. We’re humbled by God’s allowing us to point people Christ-ward through doctrinally rich, musically fresh hymns. We hope to continue doing so for years to come.
We’re also grateful to the few who have [...]

Odds and ends

from Barbara H. @ Stray Thoughts

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas week! Ours was very nice.
I thought I’d share with you just a few tidbits from the past week.
When we came back from our anniversary trip, Jeremy has already offered to make dinner that evening, and Jason and Mittu surprised us with balloons, a cake, some plastic goblets [...]
