the gods are fickle things

I just finished American Gods by Neil Gaiman. Chera has told me several times of Gaiman’s talent, although she hasn’t read this one. I must admit, I was skeptical. But, this book, was, well, fascinating doesn’t begin to describe this book. As the title says, the book is about America. “This is wild rice country. Moose country. What I’m trying to say is that America is like that. It’s not good growing country for gods.” (p. 556) America doesn’t have its own gods, but rather the ones that many people brought with them when they came to this new land…
